Ikuko Iwamoto

Ceramic Arts London - Ikuko Iwamoto -

The new idea/concept has come from the thought of how works should be presented. Most of the sculpture I see, and the ones I have done back in Japan, are to be placed on the ground, therefore, they are shaped to be put on the ground with certain size and height to be looked round.
I started thinking something enjoyable to see at the level of eyes, just like looking at paintings.

I have been sketching ideas which mostly consist of several small sculpture-to-be pieces, since early 2010, and they mainly come from my usual obsession, microscopic world, especially, the repetition of its patterns.
I thought that it would be the ideal way to present them like paintings, and with this way, the skills I have gained in RCA are yet applicable.
