Claire Loder

I make heads and faces. Words, language and narrative play a
significant role in inspiring my work. Titles suggest faces to me and
these can come from anywhere.I often start with my own reflection or
sometimes one face inspires another. Often I work to an idea or a
sketch, other times I sit down with the clay and see what emerges.
The heads and faces are very shallow in depth, typically 10-15cm. I
trained as an illustrator - they are a 2D artist’s approach to 3D.
