Merete Rasmussen

I’m interested in the ideas and expressions of continuous connected surface, the concentration and shape of a negative space, and smooth curved form together with sharply defined edges.

Stoneware is my chosen material for its qualities – I like to challenge the material and my own skills by building complicated shapes; fragile in the building, drying and firing process which upon firing attain the strength to be handled and positioned without support.

I was born in Denmark and moved to London in 2005.
Sculptural form is where my passion lies and is the area I wish to continue exploring.
