Antonia Salmon

Antonia Salmon has worked as a ceramic artist since 1984, developing a strong interest in making ceramic sculptures that have a purity of line and form.

Inspiration is drawn from small objects from the natural world, the forms in the landscape near her home and traditional hand tools or artefacts. Underlying all the work is her interest in capturing a quality of movement and also a quality of stillness within each work. Her wish is to make work that touches the viewer at a level beyond words, connecting us to quietness within.

In 1989 Antonia moved to live and work in Sheffield from where she shows her work internationally, running master classes and bringing up a family. Her ceramics are represented in private and public collections throughout the UK, Europe, USA and Japan.
