Craig Underhill

Ceramic Arts London - Craig Underhill - Split landscape, red edge

Craig Underhill makes slab built vessel forms to which he applies mark making techniques, glazes and engobes to build up depth and richness to the surface. He works more like a painter working on a canvas than potter glazing a pot. Typically his work is influenced by his interest in the visual contrasts that are created through the influence of mankind on the natural landscape and of nature on the man-made landscape.
Since graduating from Harrow College in 1989 and Portsmouth University in 1990 he has been making and exhibiting regularly across the UK and Europe.
