Gilles Le Corre

Ceramic Arts London - Gilles Le Corre - 2 lidded pots 19x15x10cm

I trained at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts. All of my pots are mostly thrown on the potter's wheel, shapes are then freely manipulated and incised.
Marks are applied to the soft stoneware clay to give a subtle tactile clay surface. I am fascinated by experimenting with high-fired stoneware glazes
And have developed a method of applying the different colours in multiple
layers to produce a rhythmic pattern. The pieces I make are tall thin vessels,
curved bowls, tea bowls, large platters, and lidded pots purposely simplified
to allow the surface texture to express itself.
