Tony Laverick

I was born in Sunderland in 1961 and studied at Preston Polytechnic. I worked in the pottery industry in Stoke-on-Trent including Coalport China before I set up my own studio in 1988.
I work in hand thrown and slabbed porcelain decorated using precious metal lustres in multiple refirings.
My pots are based on traditional forms with no specific meaning but drawing on many sources and cultures. One of my main areas of interest is the relationship between the hard edged, dynamic, linear energies of the surface and the subtly curved, formal qualities of the pot.
